Damnit Aww, you let us down by not closing it in time and now it's all knotted up. :~(

Pistols at dawn anyone?

Seriously, I'll give AC/DC some props for being one of the greatest rock bands ever, but if you are going for the true feel of the 80s, there's no doubt that GnR takes the cake. Both bands excel at rocking the house down to be sure, but the 80s and early 90s were also about the rock balladeers. To the best of my recollection, AC/DC doesn't have any while GnR certainly scored with "Don't you cry (both versions)" as well as "November Rain" (which I might add had a hot Stephanie Seymour O:-) ). They epitomized the time. Besides, when you've got a song titled, "I used to love her, but I had to kill!" you should get some extra credit!

AC/DC album releases in the 80's and 90's:

Back In Black (1980) - 3rd largest selling album in the world
For Those About To Rock (1981)
Flick Of The Switch (1983)
74' Jailbreak (1984) - Great release in the U.S. for all of who couldn't forget Bon
Fly On The Wall (1985)
Who Made Who (1986) - My favorite all time soundtrack
Blow Up Your Video (1988)
The Razors Edge (1990) - What a band to bring us into the 80's with a great album and leave us with one just as awesome.
Live & Live Collector's Edition (1992)
Ballbreaker (1995)
Bonfire Box Set (1997) - Long live Bon Scott and AC/DC
Stiff Upper Lip (2000) - Not technically in the 80's & 90's, but gotta give 'em credit for still going strong.

Guns N' Roses album releases in the 80's and 90's:

Appetite For Destruction (1987) - Well the Aussie's got 7 years on them so far.
Lies (1988)
Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 (1991)
The Spaghetti Incident (1993)
Live Era (1999)

I don't know guys. Seems to me like AC/DC's got the edge here. Don't get me wrong, I give a lot of respect to Slash but AC/DC's still holding strong together. They've had some bumps in the past, but it didn't get 'em down, they just kept on rockin'. My vote goes for:

AC/DC got my vote. Bon Scott was awesome and isn't talked about in most discussions dealing with the great ones that got away, which is a shame. Nothing against Brian Johnson, he's great too.

Highway to Hell, High Voltage, Back in Black, For Those About to Rock, etc... 'nuff said.

G'n'R are great, too, but they didn't have the history or the stage presence that AC/DC had. If you want to be considered the best of all time then you should at least show up for a show or two.

EDIT: I had already voted, btw. I just didn't have time to add my comentary. I'm sure you were all missing it greatly! ;)

Sure AC/DC released more albums, but I have to go with quality over quantity here. IMO November Rain is maybe the best song ever (either November Rain or Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody) so I'll have to go with GnR here.
