Lions | Project USC's Williams as Tight End Fri, 8 Apr 2005 14:02:50 -0700
John Czarnecki, of FOXSports.com, reports the Detroit Lions are apparently projecting USC WR Mike Williams as a tight end in the NFL. Some personnel people believe that Williams will be a 245-250-pound player in the league and that he doesn't have the quickness to be a wide receiver.
what?!? this was the first i have heard of this. i am sure he doesn not have the blocking skills to be anything but a recieving TE, so my questions remains... what?!?
"You guys have no clue how crazy hyper and dru nk (filter) I can be AT THE SAME TIME."

He's not going to be able to block well enough to be a TE in the NFL. I think he will be fine at WR. I do think its possible though that his lack of speed will keep him from being a TO type receiver. He may end up being more like Keyshawn Johnson.

Wasn't Williams' 40 in the 4.55 range?
TO ran a 4.6 and 4.61
I thought TO ran an incredible 40 at the combine, that's the only reason someone took a chance on him, in the 3rd round at that. I dont remember the time, but just doesnt seem right that a nobody became a first day guy because he ran a 4.6 as a WR, ya know?
Either way, I think the 40's are overrated in any event. Just ask Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith what they think of 40 yard times.
