Big Ten Power

I was just researching draft trends and I noticed something most peculiar.

Did you know that over the last 10 years, 3 colleges have had two of the top three picks in the draft? Not only that, but all three colleges were Big Ten teams.

2001: Courtney Brown, Lavar Arrington (Penn State)
1997: Orlando Pace, Shawn Springs (Ohio State)
1996: Kevin Hardy, Simeon Rice (Illinois)

Michigan WR Braylan Edwards could crack the top 3, but don't look for the trend to continue. The top college prospect outside Edwards is Wisconsin DE Erasmus James, projected to get drafted in the middle of the first round.

NOTE: I have to go, so I didn't have time to verify this with another site, but seeing as I got my statistics from ESPN, they should be good.

If Leinart would have decided to come out early, we'd have an outside chance at seeing two USC guys go in the top 3 this season... I am pretty confident that both Auburn RB's will go top 10 this season, and I think it's a lock that Benson and DJ (Texas) both go top 10, as well... So, we might be looking at 4 of the top 10 coming from 2 schools this year... I wonder how many times that's happened....

Oh, and as far as conferences go, I think the ACC will be the first conference on the board with three picks (Rolle, Barron, and Merriman) this year...
