Vikings Need to trade

Postby hwkyetkd11 » Mon Apr 11, 2005 9:21 pm

Why dont the vikings trade away one of their rbs to move up in the draft a little to guarantee they get either Edwards or Williams? They need to start dealing one of their guys, Im tired of Tice throwing a dart each week at a poster to decide who he is going to start!

I think everybody would like to see that happen but unfortunately I don't think there is much of a market for any of those guys.

Personally I would love Williams in Minnesota... Randy who???

because the RBs that Minnesotta could offer have basically 0 value.

Edge and SA werent worth 2nd round picks.... Surtain isnt worth a 2nd round pick....

what makes you think Michael (i havent played in 3 years) Bennet, or Onterrio (i have a drug problem and am gonna get suspended for a year) Smith, or Mewelde (im a tiny back who played 2 good games) Moore, or Moe (im a goal line back at best) Williams is gonna garner any interest at all.

There is just simply no value for those players and Minnesotta could not move up more than 1 spot with any of those RBs.

There is valu ein all of thos eguys because of their contracts. Minnesota is barely paying any of them a thing, so a team could swap their first round pick with one of Minnesota's for a RB who wil come cheap and accomplish who knows what. A lot of teams are looking to trade down is the rumors, Minnesota needs to take advantage of it

Most the top 4 or 5 teams are looking for help on O.

by pick 7... most of the offensive stars will be gone. So if im a team in the top 4 or 5 whos gonna move down to pick 7. Im telling the vikings to keep their mish mash or RBs to themselves and pony up and 2nd or 3rd round (where you can select your own young cheap RB with all the tools YOU want)

Why is that the case?

These players are proven talent. There is no gaurentee that any rookies drafted are going to pan out as expected, no matter where they're drafted. Why aren't teams willing to give up 1st or 2nd round picks for proven players that are already in the league?

i guess no one wanted to give them long term deals...

I really think the Vikes would be better off just sticking with Nate Burleson, Marcus Robinson, and Travis Taylor at WR. Daunte's gonna find the open guy, he proved it when Randy was injured last season.

I don't think we need to take a WR in the draft. We have 3 capable guys, plus a solid TE(Jermaine Wiggens), and our RB's that can come out of the backfield.

Instead we should get another solid LB, like say, Derrick Johnson ;-D . We have Napolean Harris and Sam Cowart, Johnson could be the last piece of the puzzle. He'd make a great OLB, and I think he would really succeed behind our awesome D-Line. He could get in for the blitz or drop back in coverage.

I don't even think that the Vikings need to trade up at all to guarantee Williams or Edwards. IMO, there is an 80% chance that Williams will make it to the #7 pick, unless the titans take him. However, WR is the Titans 3rd concern after CB and RB, so I don't even see a need for the Vikes to trade up at all. They can stay in their current spot and end up with williams.

they only thing they have to worry about is Chicago and TB taking both of them and TB should know better than that and grab a RB.
