Plaxico's place in the 2nd tier?

Postby MCG321 » Sat Apr 16, 2005 12:46 am

I was looking through past ODoTW's, and came across the 2nd tier WR rankings:

J. Walker - 2.90
Wayne - 3.27
Horn - 3.36
A. Johnson- 3.63
S. Smith - 5.54
Burleson - 5.72
Ward - 7.90
J. Porter - 8.90
Boldin - 9.54
Mason - 9.90
Muhammed- 10.81
R. Williams - 10.90
D. Jackson - 11.00
J. Smith - 11.54

I see Plaxico wasn't a choice for this list, and was wondering where you guys would place him as a Giant (if you think he deserves a spot on there at all).

1st Tier + 2nd Tier A/B= about 20 players

Plaxico is closer to 30 right now. Inside or out, not sure yet. Top of my head.

The top 25 even seems high for him with the performance Eli put on last season.

Depth at wr is more than fair this season. Late round wrs are more than few and far between.

IF Plax has a breakout season like he did 2 yrs ago, he would be ranked in a tie with Jimmy Smith, which is still somewhat too high of a ranking for such an underachieving WR.

Plexiglass' history + Eli's uncertainty = FF purgatory at best. :-o

That's what I'm thinking, too. I just don't see how this situation is going to help anyone's fantasy team this year. Maybe in another year or two when Eli gets his feet under him, but I just don't see it this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Plax have a good game or two, but I seriously doubt he will be a consistant producer.

I'd take a flier on him as my 3rd WR. In my mind, he has enormous boom potential to be Peyton's Harrison of old.

I probably would too. The Giants play the AFC West and the NFC West next year. There's some weak defense in those divisions
