Another band that was WAY under appreciated in the US. Their hits are not their best stuff.
I'm also surprised I haven't seen Rush mentioned anywhere (80's or 70's). They're one of my favorite bands. I didn't expect to be alone with all of the Canadian guys that hang out here. I guess all of you Canadians are pretty young, though. Probably didn't get the priviledge of cranking up Farewell to Kings, Moving Pictures, or Power Windows.

I am fairly young (1986), but I still know a lot about classic rock music. I'm not really a big fan of Rush. The Canadian stuff that would probably be an outside shot to have any consideration in this tournament would be The Band, Neil Young, and Randy Bachman's two bands Guess Who (American Woman) and BTO (Takin' Care of Business). Barenaked Ladies was a good choice for the 90's, but hey what're you going to do.

All great bands/artists. I would guess that Rush is the most popular of them, but it might be a regional thing.
And there ya have it folks! Nirvana is the best rock band from the 80s or 90s! Stay tuned for the battle of the 60s and 70s!
