Notice the words "rock band." I love alot of U2's stuff, but they're still more pop than rock, and I don't think anyone can confuse REM for rock. Both good bands, but enither would've been right for a rock band competition.

Point taken. When I hear the word "pop" I think of Britney Spears and Madonna. U2 did get weird for a few albums but most of their stuff is mainstream rock IMO. I've always thought of R.E.M. as alternative rock. I suppose it's all in your take on the meaning. No big deal, I didn't mean to sound like I was whining. Now if the Sex Pistols win best band of the 60's/70's I may bitch a little (if you're going to go punk, the Clash and the Ramones are the way to go).


And Vikes_Fan, I agree with Superman in Training, it was an entertaining way to pass some time.
