I just read about it on Yahoo. ESPN make a great pickup there, and this really suxks for ABC, although they own ESPN so they still amke a ton of money. My favorite part is that MNF starts at 8:30 now, so I can see more of it before I go to bed, because I can't stay up until midnight on a school night. :,-(

Is Bob Costas still under contract with NBC? :-?

oh no......

you have just brought to my attention that bob costas could be the SNF announcer on NBC.

i dont think i can handle him, he is annoying and has no background in football not to mention any real football knowledge.

i dont like him at all and i hope he doesnt get the gig...

Not any more annoying than John Madden. When Madden is doing the game I turn down the sound!!!!!!!! I can see the obvious, he doesn't need to tell me that "if the running back had not dropped the ball it wouldn't have been a fumble" I can't count the number of times I have heard that or something similar from him.
You could think of government workers like teenagers. You pay them an allowance, but do you get any work out them? They eat the food, put their feet on the furniture and complain loudly whenever they are unhappy.

Why all the sudden changes in the TV spots? I am sure it is about money.

I don't know if Costas would do it...

They have whatshisface doing the Arena games...Hammond? I think that's his name. He is already doing their football announcing, so maybe he would do it. :-?

It's the NFL, they are going to have to bring in a big name. It's primetime football which is still a huge market with major advertising dollars attached to it. The bigger question is, do Michaels and Madden now go to Mondays on ESPN, which I think they will, effectively kicking the SNF crew off the air. If so, does SNF crew break up and split off to NBC?

The thing I love about this is how just a few years ago when NBC lost the NFL entirely it was no big deal to them and they claimed that they didn't need the product. Uh, guess not huh? More importantly, this probably signals that NBC is going to become much more aggressive in the next round of NFL bidding.
