I don't see Washington finishing with a record that would give them a worse pick than #25 next year. Combined with the fact that they're giving up 3rd and 4th rounders, AND the fact that this year's draft class is weak, and this deal just makes no sense.
Maybe they will make it make sense come draft day.
I gonna agree with bagabonez on this one. On paper it looks like the Broncos gave the Skins the ol shaft, for the reasons he stated. Unless all of us are completely missing something here or they are gonna pull something out of their @$$ come Saturday. I dunno but it's a scary thought either way.
hopefully you guys don't forget about Rod Gardener. That gives Washington ever more leeway to make some draft day trades if they need to. Maybe they could package gardner and the 9 pick to move up for mike williams ... or if thatcant work, then they could draft one of the top corners at #9(rolle, pac man, carlos rogers) then package gardner and the #25 to move up into the mid-late teens and snatch troy williamson. That would be my dream scenario anyway.
Overall though, a weak tradefor the skins. I don't see why the would have to give up a 4th next year on top of the 3rd their giving away this year... Eh, this will basically be a moot point if the skins make the playoffs this year; I'll be just fine with giving up the picks
Skins didnt really improve anywhere in free agency this year. This is abnormal for them, but they lost Smoot, and Pierce. Its a given that they have a need at CB, they also wanted a pass rushing DE, but Pierce was an anchor to that outstanding defense now, and a guy who Gibbs named a core player for the team. Mike Barrow is ancient, and can't be expected to play as well as Pierce did, so perhaps they are gunning for Odell Thurman.
Now sure, Odell could fall to them in the 2nd round, that's what many have said about Campbell too. But they can't take a CB or DE with the 9th overall, and then both of those guys with their 2nd rounder. With this first rounder, they may be reaching, but they might fill all of their major needs.
If they really want a middle backer, they'd be better off investing in Crowder with the Broncos pick. Even if some team takes Campbell before their 2nd rounder, there are plenty of good 2nd tier QBs in this draft.

I doubt they would have picked up a Campbell type QB in the 3rd. I still say it is a dumb move. This draft will yield them 2 and maybe only 1 playmaker if they trade up (what I think will happen) and a couple day two special teams contributors.
my friend who is a hard core redskins fan flipped when he heard this deal..... it is real bad, even if they get cambell or whoever... losing that much and recieving a high 1st rounder??
As a Cowboys fan, I gotta love the Redskins' inability to draft and reliance on expensive free agents.
They only got 3 draft picks in 2003 and 4 draft picks in 2004.
This year they only have 5 draft picks. And cooleyhigh is right, the Redskins traded away their 2005 2nd rounder to NO last year for his namesake, TE Chris Cooley.
Redskin fans had better hope they get a franchise player here as they have depleted their 2006 draft picks already (note the trend).
