Buchanon Traded To Houston

So where does this leave Glenn? He is a very good corner even if he is up there in years. I have a hard time believing that Buchanon would be put on the bench.

If Glenn is moved, that pretty much rids Houston of its notable original expansion players with Glenn, Sharper, Boselli and Bradford cut loose. I guess the only one left would be Coleman.

That Raiders defense is going to be brutal this year.

never know... maybe a move to safety?

i dont know if he has any safety experience or has the size but they should definately keep him around...

If the Raiders get both Houstons selections this year

From Houston

Round 2.15
Round 3.14

Original picks

Round 2.06
Round 3.05

Raiders get FOUR picks inside the top 80 i believe.
Being left out of the first round. They get 4 picks inside 40 selections.

They are all going to be Defensive picks.

1.LB...here or CB is going to be the #1 priority
2.CB/S...all their main guys are on the block if not traded
3.D-line...getting old Ted Wash and Warren "mouth" Sapp

Now that you mention it...

Yeah one pick for the o-line seems appropriate. To protect Kerry and Lamont. And provide some time for the boys to run their routes and go DEEP.

And Robert Gallory needs a homie.

Picking up Burgess from the eagles kinda took care of one d-line requirement.

Depends on the D-scheme 3-4 or 4-3. Im not sure.

So....with that jumbled mess that i just put together.

Round 2.06 will be used on a LB

Round 2.15 quick glance says to pick cb or safety...but the value probably lies in an O-lineman here.

Round 3.06 Will conitnue to be CB...a major need with recent developments.

Round 3.14 is going to be another LB/CB

***i am not a big college scout or draft reviewer***

So you tell me....what you would do with these picks?

Raiders first need is defense...LB/CB. Then O-line.

Actually i would draft based on value. So the value of an o-line man with their first pick could be higher. But i doubt it.

the 2.15 pick i am guessing is where the o-line value pick is.

thats basically what i know.

So now, You guys tell me what you think the Raiders will do with these picks?

Maybe we shoudl start a thread on this?

Lets see how this thread works out first.

I could see 1 OL pick with those 4, but they already drafted 2 starters for the OL last year, so they've done alot of work there it would seem.

Finding another LB and CB have to be their top priorities with those picks, and drafting a young guy to push Sapp/Washington isn't a bad idea either. They could all defense, but a nice pickup at Guard wouldnt hurt either.

Good stuff. MADDOG.

I am not as hardcore as some of you guys here in the cafe. So i did not know that the Raiders picked up two OL guys last year.

OK... well lets start with O Line

Early 2nd round. David Bass OG/C (very versatile)
Mid/late 2nd Chris Spencer C (best pure center in the draft)
Mid/late 2nd Elton Brown OG (1st round talent with some issues)
Late 2nd Logan Mankins OG
late 2nd Michael Roos OT

Early 2nd round CBs
Justin Miller
Fabian Washington
Marlin Jackson
Note: All 3 of these guys could very well go in the 1st and might not last until pick 2.08... then again 1 might.

Mid/late 2nd round:
Brandon Browner CB: 6'4 CB ran slow at the combine might have to move to S.
Byrant McFadden: Prolly closer to late 2nd round here
late 2nd/3rd : Corey Webster.... BEST VALUE IN THE DRAFT IMO. this the only player in the combine who was a 6'0 CB and ran under a 4.4.... Wont last long into the 3rd.

S: Brodney Pool - early 2nd
S: Josh Bullocks - early/mid 2nd

LBs:

Guys like Odell Thurman, Barrett Rudd, Darryl Blackstock are all very solid LB talent which can be had in the 2nd round.

Earnest Shazor is another LB option.. played S in college but is projected as a LB in the NFL HUGE hitter... might last into the 3rd.

I woulda given up Buchannon for a 2nd rounder alone. Now they get (2) 1st day picks, nice. Buchannon has game breaking ability, but he can't cover worth a !@#$. He returns a interception for a TD every season, but he gives up a lot more points than that...
