Jacob's Pick???

Postby kashikis » Sun Apr 24, 2005 11:39 am

what do you guys think of the Jacobs pick. I think picking Antajj or how ever you spell that would have been a wise value pick in the 4th seeing he will be gone before we get another pick, no 5th rounder.

I was a little upset at this, but maybe they no something I don't. Antajj was a pothead but that can be beaten out of him by Coughlin.

No really, I'm not having a bad day.

I didn't really like the pick and agree Antajj woulda been better, but Hawthorne lasted 'till the 7th so I guess the Giants didn't want him.

Jacobs could be what Ron Dayne wasn't, he has the size and everything.

I don't think this was a bad pick. Auburn has a history of turning out decent RB's. I know he graduated from S. Illinois but he started his college days at Auburn. He just needed PT and wasn't going to get much with 2 1st round RB's ahead of him on the depth chart.

Should be fun to see if he works out. I feel he will do ok and exceed expectations if he plays with a "something to prove" attitude.

Now if the Giants had just taken Khalif Barnes in the 2nd I would have been really happy.

I wasn't expecting this pick either, but he doesn't seem like bad value at that stage of the draft. There were a lot of directions they could have gone with this one, and you can certainly second-guess it, but Jacobs could wind up working out pretty well.

All in all, though, not a bad draft for the Giants, considering they didn't have a first-rounder...
