breaking the tie (answered)

If two teams from different divisions are tied for the final wildcard spot, their head-to-head record is used as the tiebreaker. If that doesn't yield a winner, won-lost percentage within the conference is used, then won-lost in games against common opponents, and so on.

What is the final tie-breaker used before a coin is flipped to decide which team advances? :-)

Isn’t that decided in a cheerleader mud wrestling match, Alex? Now that would be fantasy football!!! 8-o 8-o 8-o
I’ll guess strength of schedule.

All good guesses, but you're not there yet. Strength of schedule is almost at the end of the tiebreaker list, but not quite...

I think I heard it a couple of years ago ... the most net TDs in a year.

Didn't GB and Carolina have something like this a few years back?

Accepted as answer by Arlo on 19 Aug 2003 03:32 pm EST.

As opposed to total gross TDs? What the heck are total 'net' touchdowns?

Yea. "Net" TDs must be your total TDs minus the ones you got on a blown call by the ref. Or the one's you got playing ... I mean. Er. Nevermind ...
