Also when I moved to the Milwaukee area and someone asked if we had a bubbler I was at a total lose. My employees had to tell me what it was.

If somw one asked me for a bubbler, they would be surprised at what they got. A big pipe with water and ganja.

I guess where i live (raleigh, nc) is not far enough in the south to have it consistently called coke, because I usually don't hear coke. I call it soda, but I am originially from NJ so that doesnt really count. I'm going to try and pay attention from now on to see what people call it.

I live in Philly, so its definitely soda. No pop, no coke unless you're going by brand name.

Oh, and we also dont have subs or heroes, its a hoagie.

Considering half of my state(PA) is blue, and the other half yellow, explains why i have always called it soda pop.

So where do I fit in? Where do I belong? I have, and regularly use all forms of these. I say soda, pop, soda-pop, coke and cola. It just depends on the mood.Maybe it comes from living in a big city where all kinds of people come together, and carry over the dialects and phrases from where they lived.

I've never said or heard anyone say "pop" in my life. Never heard someone say "coke" either unless they're actually getting a coke.
