for people who have not read the book, like myself, the movie trailer wasnt exactly helpful in describing what the movie was about...

The book was awesome. I'm going to see this with my bro when he gets out of boot camp in a week.

just got back and it was pretty good....although not as much like the book as i would have liked...i would reccomend anybody who has read the book to see this movie NOW...just kidding but i would reccomend reading the book before you see it because some things might be a little hard to understand that they dont explain well (such as the Improbability Drive and Marvin). It is pretty funny though and they actually made Zaphod have 2 heads and 3 arms which did surprise me because i didnt think they would do that in the movie....i give it a 9/10 if you have read the book and but if you havent read book you will probobly think of it as 6-7/10.

and remember......

Yeah I just saw it without reading the books. I thought it was interesting and pretty funny at some parts (The dolphins singing "So long and thanks for all the fish" cracked me up for some reason) but there were definately some parts I didnt really understand. Overall, it was worth it, especially since my movie-theater employee friend got me in for free. :-)

The book was better, but the movie wasn't a dissapointment. Having read the book really improves the whole experience.

Nothing is ever as good as the book, but all I've heard so far is that the movie is a good time and worth seeing.

Actually, the Lord of the Rings movies I think were better than the books. (some definitely will disagree with me here...) They are my favorite movies of all time, and although they are very different from the books in some ways, I like them better.
