Who holds the record for total TDs (rushing, receiveing, and kick or punt returning) per game in a season? How many total?

Gale Sayers 1965 Rookie Season

He had 6 in one game (4 rushing, 1 Receving, 1 Returning)

and 22 Total for the Year.

What's the minimum number of games?

Newbie got it. The record was based on the number of games in a season. Sayers had 22 TDs in 12 games.

I don't understand one thing. The Bears played 14 games in '65 not 12.

Sayers still had an advantage. His average was 1.57142...
You posted people who had higher averages per game played, but they missed some games due to injury. I was basing it on games in a season.

Steve Van Buren had 17 TDs for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1945. The Eagles ended the season with a 7-3 record. A total of 10 games. Therefore Van Buren's average is 1.7. Almost .13 better per game than Sayers.
