There were plenty of chances to win games if he had made his FG's. Sure, they didn't score TD's, but when you give your kicker a chance he has to come through. Even if that means winning a game 9 to 7, it's still his job to make them. Also worth mentioning is that most of his missed FG's were very makeable.

maybe it was because most of the Bears' offense relied on the kicker to often? he had a lot of pressure on him because he's been leading the team in scoring i think all 5 years with u guys, if not then at least 3 of them

i know with us he won't have 2 worry about being what the game comes down to as often, because our offense can put good numbers on the board, but all i'm really trying to get at here is that he's still a good kicker, and he can dwell on the past at his age very easily
My team is a choking machine, but there's always next year to be seen.

24 out of the top 30 leading scorers last year were kickers.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/leaders/NFL/TPTS/2004/regular

Only Shaun Alexander and Muhsin Muhammd outscored their kicker on that list so that is not a good excuse. Edinger had no more pressure on him than any other kicker in the league. All he had to do was put the ball through the uprights and he couldn't get it done.

A lot of players underperform in one place and then move on to rebound and have a succesful career. Much like David Terrell, Edinger may rebound and end up being ok, but the bottom line is when you suck that bad you have to be let go. Good luck somewhere else, no hard feelings, but you didn't get it done here so good bye!

The majority of his missed field goals were from 30-49, but somehow went 3-5 from 50+. I can't understand missing from the 30-35 range 5 or more times in a year and not getting canned right then and there. Maybe if he actually looked at what he was kicking at he might make one once in awhile.... :-#
