I can't back up the signing, but I did find this yesterday, and posted it in the team forums. It's good for a laugh!

News
Free agent defensive back and special teams ace R.W. McQuarters has visited several teams since the Bears released him last month. Although he has yet to enter serious contract negotiations with any teams, the Vikings and Giants are rumored to be the leading contenders for McQuarters' services. Mike Sweatman, the G-Men's special teams coach, is obviously hoping that R.W. will choose Gotham City. "He's an exciting, electrifying type returner, similar to some of the plays David Meggett made when he was with the Giants," Sweatman told the New York Post. McQuarters has returned three punts for touchdowns during his seven year career.

Are these guys on crack? Comparing McQuarters to Meggett? That's just insane!

Three whole career TD's huh? Definitely just like Meggett!

As a Giants fan, scratch that as a football fan, that is an insult to Meggett.

Meggett was on of the best punt returners of all time :-#

Yeah, that's a disgraceful comment.

As far as R.W. goes, I'd be pretty happy to get him, I like what Ernie's been doing with the team.

Not a bad pickup by NYG...

(Plus, he's got cool hair so that can't hurt)

The Giants could use some depth at secondary. McQuarters was a good signing, especially since he has value as a returner.

Yea, excellent pick-up by the Giants. McQuarters is a good player for their secondary, and his skills as a returner only add to his value.
