I used to play Super Mario Bros. 3 when I was in junior high school. It used to take me quite a while to beat it, even after I got really good at it. The following video footage is really incredible. Watch this guy beat Super Mario 3 in less than 11 minutes. It's unreal.
I guess the guy used some machine to beat it in that amount of time? Not quite sure on the story, but one of these guys will know it. It wasn't a clean completion of the game, that's all I know.

I've seen the video many times, and what he does is use a "flute" and it takes him deep into the game, like the 8th world. From there he uses it again and basically flys through the actucal game.

This was posted on another video game enthusiast forum, and has repeatedly been proven as a fake. The video was taken from an emulator, and when loaded up properly it was shown to have had several THOUSAND save state cuts.
Basically, the person would save every couple of seconds, and if he missed a jump, he would load from the saved state.
When it's put together, it's very impressive still though!
