I guess someone would've accused them of torture if they didn't give him the Doritos. Personally, I can't believe we're making any accomodations for one of the most evil sick and twisted men on the planet. Let him starve, though there isn't a punishment on earth fitting for a criminal on his level.

I hate to put this thread back on the serious track, but buddy, there are things such as international laws. We can't just torture or punish people without a trial. Saddam has already been accused of one thing (harboring WMD's) that was proven untrue.

I mean, obviously this guy is evil, and I'll be the first to admit that, but that doesn't mean we need to start violating international laws (and the Constitution) and make the whole world hate us even more. The guy is already rotting; we found him in a hole with rats.

i dunno if this is exactly what maddog was talking about but who cares if he doesnt get his chips? theres no reason we need to accomodate his every want. same with the guys at gitmo bay, that senator went on TV the other day to say how well the prisoners are getting fed with baked chicken and stuff, give them some PB&J, i guarantee its cheaper, they wont starve, and they arent eating better than many families in the US.

Basically my point. International law doesn't mean a prisoner should get their favorite snacks. International laws against prisoner mistreatment are there because of the Nazis, the Vietnamese POW camps. Sadaam doesn't have a right to eat Cheetos, its not torture to tell him "tough luck," because they ran out of them.

Moreover, they're feeding him Doritos instead. Last I checked Doritos run 3-4 dollars a bag. I can't even afford to buy them as snacks, being an in-deb college student, but we're feeding them to a former dictator that inhales them in 10 minutes a bag?!? Something's wrong with that.

Oh, and VHawk, just in case it isn't coming through with these posts, they're meant to have a touch of humor, and not straight forward seriousness.

Yeah, great idea! That will make our country even more popular than it already is!

Who cares? No one likes us now when we are doing the right things. What's a few lashings of Saddam's rear going to do? We couldn't do any worse. You can't have less than nobody liking you.

David, I assume you're in the minority of Americans who think that Iraq was the "right thing" to do.

But maddog, I see your point. We don't necessarily have to give Saddam every last thing he wants, but we definitely can't starve him or borderline torture him. But defianthart, gitmo bay was a horrible example, as that place as turned into ground zero for under the radar yet "legal" torturing. The only reason that politician did the whole stunt with the baked chicken was because he wanted to be a good Republican.

Yeah, I guess freeing 40+ million people from tyrannical rule was a bad thing ;-7 .

"good republican", isnt that an oxymoron? ;-)

that guy was trying to say "they arent abused, look how well theyre eating." personally i dont believe they have people giving out food like that but if they are i think its rediculous, even if those guys are being "legally" totured. i guess gitmo wasnt the best example since they are treated like crap anyway, but i just saw that menu on the news the other day and it applied to the conversation at hand so i thought id use it.

Oh, really, that's what we were doing? Man, I had it all confused. The president was saying they had WMD, Bill O'Reilly was agreeing with you, and then half the country said it was for oil. Hmm... glad you cleared that up for me, I'm sure the Senate would've been pumped to go to war had Bush said "Saddam is a bad man" as opposed to "Saddam is a bad man that is about the nuke us all." No difference there, at all.

I'm sure those nearly 2,000 American soldiers that died would probably like to know the real reason, too. Care to send their family a postcard?

Edited to add- The 25,000+ Iraqi dead civilians' families and the 35,000+ Americans wounded may want postcards too. Ya know, just so you don't leave anyone out.

saddam didnt really have anything that could actually harm American citizens on American soil in terms of nukes/WMDs or whatever but i think were starting to approach that line where conversations get cut short.

You're probably right, some of my fellow mods aren't as big of a rebel rouser as I am. Just had to get that out there about Viet...I mean the Iraq War. So, here's another Saddam quote:

Saddam preferred Raisin Bran Crunch for breakfast, telling O'Shea, "No Froot Loops." He ate fish and chicken but refused beef.
