daullaz - how do you respond to Lovie Smith saying "Thomas is our starting running back" and the fact that he is getting the vast majority of reps with the 1st team?

Let's see who the starter is in September. Let's also see how the first-team practices shape up in the preseason, and who impresses the coaches most during that time and the time between. Seriously, Jones is good enough that if Benson struggles early, he'll have to sit and watch Jones get a majority of the carries. But I don't think he'll struggle enough to where it gets to that point. It will all become clearer once the season gets closer however.

This one is a serious question, as I don't have the data on this. How many RBs selected in the top-five (and even top-ten) overall in the draft didn't start within the first few weeks of the season? Does anyone know where we can find that info? I'd be really interested to know.

All I know is that some RB's will do good and some will do bad. All you can really count on is that nobody really knows what will happen.

Thomas Jones is a very interesting player this year. Chicago's line will be very good and if he does hang onto the starting job he'd make an excellent flex guy. Assuming (very big assumption) that Benson would be relegated to a speller and maybe even goalline back, he should be close to 2k total yards and about as many TDs as he had last year.
