PLEASE help me rank these QBs...

Postby Warpigs » Thu Aug 21, 2003 11:53 am

Need a better QB to start. I currently have Holcomb and Plummer, but have plans to offer a trade for one of the following QBs. In what order do you think they rank -- which ones will I be able to rely on for numbers?

Kerry Collins
Steve McNair
Tommy Maddox
Kurt Warner
Matt Hasselbeck
Patrick Ramsey

Where would Holcomb and Plummer fall into the mix?

Sorry. Also through in Tom Brady. He should be available.

They are all very good qb's, with Maddox and Ramsey nearer to the bottom of the list. I do remember reading a post in here which expounded the virtues of having Plummer and Hasselbeck, in that both teams have relatively easy schedules and are bound to put up some good numbers. But really, you can't go wrong with most of these as a good, solid backup.

this is in the order of my preference--not in the order i think they'll be drafted:

1 warner -- he's back
2 collins -- shockey, tiki, toomer, hilliard...that's a lot of options
3 hasselbeck -- will have protection, running game and djax/krob
4 mcnair -- not many targets and is eddie on? some ifs undermine his poise and skill
5 maddox -- no running game, soft line, but ward, randle el and plaxico...great arm
6 brady -- patten and brown are solid, but there's no running game, and there's a good chance he'll get suffocated
8 holcomb -- he's great, but how long is his leash?
9 plummer -- why don't you let him settle in, first. lelie will save the day as the season progresses
10 ramsey -- young, overwhelmed and it's tough to lead a team when spurrier's beating on him all the time.

DOYS, but i'm starting to like mcnair. i'm curious as to how beneficial a healthy offseason will be for him. i think he could be at or near the top of that list. same w/ warner, but you know the downside there. really, at this stage, these are all decent QBs...

I like Warner from this group, but I also see Brady still isnt getting enough love.

A team that throws over 60% of the time - isnt that the team you want your fantasy QB to be playing for?

I've got:

Kurt Warner - Back and healthy
Kerry Collins - In his prime with a lot of weapons
Steve McNair - Steady, cool and a warrior
Matt Hasselbeck - He could really be up there by year end...especially if Walter Jones signs. You can probably wait and get him late.
Tommy Maddox - Can he do it again?
Patrick Ramsey - The system is there for him, but will he always be looking over his shoulder?
