Drew Brees, a keeper?

This year our league is becoming a keeper league. We are keeping one player. It costs you the position in this yrs draft, that he was drafted at last yr. For many reasons that are to lengthy to explain, this yr only, we have a strange rule in place that I'll explain.

Since we didn't know we would be doing a keeper league when we drafted last year, and many traded players that they would have kept had they known we were doing a keeper, we are allowing everyone to choose either someone from thier own team or one of the players left over from another team. This will allow everyone to enter the keeper with 1 good player and next yr the rules change to keep 2 players and only from your team.

So, I am one of those that traded like mad near end of season trying to get to finals. It leaves me with Drew Brees as the only player I would consider keeping. He was undrafted, so it would be like a free pick at the beginning of the yr. We play in a 2 qb league, so qb's are important.

Keep Bree's or try for someone off a different team? Will Bree's be great again this year?

I would look for a good running back on another team. I just think that keeping Brees is a big risk in a Keeper league like that.

I understand that thinking, but I am just thinking that i have to have 2 qb's so if Bree's was top 15 among qb's this yr. it might be a great value as i still get whole draft?

Brees = No. Find a good RB out there as was mentioned before.

I also have Chris Brown who was 6th round pick - so I'd lose my sixth round by keeping him.

Michael Clayton = undrafted

Chris Perry = undrafted

and the like..... it is a 2 qb league which means I have to play 2 each week. so, it does add value to the qb position. thoughts?

I would still keep Brown. He's great value in the 6th rd. He's got a great upside too. This guy was ripping off 100 yards in a half prior to his injury last season.

Vegas odds makers are down on SD, bigtime..
they have the Chargers at 28-1 to win the SB, and the over/under on total wins in 2005 is 8..thats a 4 game drop from last year's 12-4 record.If you believe in Vegas' oddsmakers like i do, i'd steer clear of Brees altogether...

if you've got Chris Brown, i'd definitely hold onto him....if he stays healthy all year, he could lead the league in rushing...he was the #1 RB for the first 6-7 weeks of 2004, before he got turf toe..but at least it wasn't a contact-injury..

It would be useful to know what other players you might be able to choose from other rosters (particularly RB's).

That said, Brown is a better option than Brees, IMO.
