IDP: LB options for draft

Postby Heavyg25 » Wed Jul 06, 2005 3:35 pm

I am in a 20 team keeper league and really worried about my LB corp. I am looking for what other people think about what rookies or maybe deep sleeper non-rookie options that might be available for me to draft. I have been eyeing Thurman and Johnson but not up to date on the status of some other promising IDP rookies.

Thurman and Johnson both should do well

Boss Bailey was hurt last year and people may forget about him

Ian Gold is going back to his natural position in DEN where he put up huge numbers before going to TB

All the new middle linebackers in HOU - the ones replacing the tackling machines of J. Sharper and Foreman

Kendall in KC may get over looked.

R. Colvin will be back for NE this year

thats all i have off the top of my head at the moment

If you are in a tackle-based format, I would suggest Morlon Greenwood of the Houston Texans as a sleeper. He will be playing the position vacated by Jay Foreman- a basically untalented player who managed to make tons of tackles in this system. Greenwood is a talented player and should rack up 100+ tackles for Houston.
Neil Young haunts my nightmares.

Derrick Johnson is in my opinion a very Vilma-like pickup. There was a lot of knocks on him in the draft, but this guy posted just about every record you could expect from a LB in college, won about every award he could've and I think he's just flat a out a playmaker.

I have the number 9 pick in a 20 player rookie draft, do you think that this would be too early to pick him up? I guess it will depend on which vetran players become available when we cut down to the maditory 23 players in our league before our draft.

2 other players im expecting HUGE years out of are....

Julian Peterson has been injured and is a top 3 LB at his best.

Andre Carter (formerly a DE) has been moved to the elephant linebacker spot in the niners new 3-4 and should get an increase in BOTH sacks and tackles.... Think Boulware but younger without an injury history.
