Franchise left tackle Orlando Pace told Sporting News Radio that he hopes to be with the team "in a week or so," the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Pace is currently holding out in the hopes of signing a long-term deal. However, he believes that he will sign the one-year, $5.73 million tender to play in 2003. "I like to play and I'm anxious to get in there right now," Pace said. "I don't know if I'll sit out the season, I don't think I will. I think I am going to get in there and play the one-year deal and see what happens next year." Pace continued, "Hopefully they would offer me a long-term deal. But, at the end of the year if they don't, I don't think that's good business, if they're looking at their future and at the left tackle position. Hopefully, the Rams would say we want this guy around a long time and they would try to work out a deal. If not, it's hard to say right now, because I just want to get in there right now to focus on winning and I want to stay in St. Louis."
