Staley holdout is over .....

Postby Homeless » Fri Aug 22, 2003 2:22 pm

Running back Duce Staley will end his holdout and join the Eagles on Sunday, the Trenton Times has learned. When asked if he expected Staley to arrive by this weekend, head coach Andy Reid smiled and said "No comment." On Sunday the Eagles are throwing their annual carnival at Lincoln Financial Field, and Staley is expected to be there. The Eagles final preseason game is on Thursday.

Staley is probably too late to get back his starting job before the beginning of the season, but the Eagles have a bye in week three. So, Duce actually has over a month to get into the flow before week four, and it's conceivable that he would only miss two games as the starter. Of course, Reid and Correll Buckhalter will have something to say about that, and Staley may still be involved in trade talks. We'll definitely follow this situation closely as more information comes out. Buckhalter owners should be sweating right now...

Duce

Even though he's back, I'd still stay away from Staley.

As an Eagles fan, I've seen all 3 of the Eagles RBs play over the past couple of years.

I'd rank them:

1) Buckhalter
2) Westbrook
3) Staley

Staley's been around the block & plays with veteran smarts. He takes what the defense will give him & sometimes muscle out a few more yards. But he lacks the ability to break a big run. The younger guys are more athletic. I'd expect each of them to see get at least as many carries as Duce this year.
Everything you know is wrong.

Well now the Eagles have a clown for their carnival! I would expect to see Staley moved if the Eagles can swing it. If they can't get rid of Staley will they be forced to play him? There is no great trade value in bench players. That's not sweat from Buckhalter owners, it's tears!

Staley was already being transitioned out of the running game, with Correll Buckhalter slated to get the majority of carries. Staley's fantasy value will be nominal as he will likely be used as a change-of-pace back and as a pass catcher on third downs.

i dont no what will go on but with that in mind he should want to be traded.
