BIG SPOILER - Harry Potter - warning DO NOT READ

I just read it on holidays and have to say that it was an excellent book ;-D .

Some people don't like it because it's not like the other Potter books but the books have been getting more mature as they go along and this is a natural progression.

One of the things that I like is that Rowling mixed it up a bit. In the other books you could pick out the surprise or the bad guy early on. Some of them were good surprises some of them not so good (come on, how many people really thought that Sirius was going to turn out to really be a bad guy when you were reading PA?) but the new book really kept me guessing. I thought that this book was going to end up being about werewolves. They introduced the werewolf leader early on and I thought that the surprise was that Draco and Tonks had been biten by the werewolf and that Harry was going to confront the werewolf leader at the end. I was also convinced that Snape was going to turn out to be a good guy and that he was going to be the one to die.

Rowling is setting the series up for life after Hogwarts but I think that Harry will somehow end up back at school in the next book. My guess is that during the summer he finds out that one of the horcruxes is at Hogwarts (maybe Gryffendor's sword or the Sorting hat) and he has to go back to school to find it.

Overall I give it a 9/10 ;-D

I like it! Good theory, I can so see that happening. I seriously doubt there will be no Hogwarts going on next book. In fact, I would be shocked if the grand finale did not happen at the school.

Yep. I like it.
Hogwarts in #7 is a done deal - and that's a good way to bring it in.
PLUS ... how's he ever going to be an Auror without his O.W.L.S.!!?

Yea. That was Mundungus Fletcher.
Wasn't he thrown in Azkaban, though?

I think the Ministry could let it slide if he killed Voldemort.

But, I agree that the book will definitely miss something if the vast majority of the time isn't spent at Hogwarts.

Two years from now, when it's all said and done.
When JKR ends this long and winding tale.

Anyone have any predictions on how the main characters will "wind up"?
How they'll spend their lives? Married? Single? Jobs?
Alive. Maybe even (!) dead.

There's been a lot of real good posts and comments here.
Just real curious what the fans out there think.

Has she said that she is ending it in 2 years?

If she hasn't said that I am going to bet that she continues on with it but with a different character as the main protagonist. Colin Creevy or some very minor character will have his own story told. She might even do a George Lucas and do a prequel - tell the story of Godric Gryffendor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin and the starting of the school - I would read that series.

As for your question:

ScreamingWeasel wrote:Sirius Black - dead
Albus Dumbledore - dead
Hermione Granger - Minister for magic
Rubeus Hagrid - eaten by a hippogriff
Remus Lupin - organizing a werewolf rebellion
Neville Longbottom - mysteriously disappears
Draco Malfoy - accidentally killed by Crabbe
Professor McGonagall - permanently insane and in St. Mungos
Harry Potter - loses all magic ability and lives happily among the muggles
Severus Snape - horrific death
Arthur Weasley - who?
Ginny Weasley - quiddich groupie
Molly Weasley - dicovers muggle tranquilizers and calms the hell down
Ron Weasley - ends up as a stockboy and tester in his brothers' store
