Who knows their WR? Cafe or ESPN?

Postby Bennett4prez » Mon Jul 18, 2005 1:02 pm

Well, it's common knowledge here at the Cafe that Randy Moss is the single greatest WR in the NFL. However, I recently voted for Moss on ESPN.com's opening page poll, and, to my surprise, the percentages were as follow:

Marvin Harrison: 35.2%
Torry Holt: 5.9%
Randy Moss: 30.6%
Terrell Owens: 28.1%

I know it's nothing dramatic, but I just thought it was something worth noting.

Marvin might be rated higher because he does things that Moss and Owens are weak at.

3rd and 8 need a first down? I'll take Marvin over Moss and Owens 10 times out of 10.

Best WR in the NFL? Moss beats Marvin with one leg, literally.

3rd and 8 and your WR catches a 5 yard out?

TO and Moss will fight for those extra 3 yards, Marvin will curl up in the fetal position.

And they might get tackeled before they reach the 1st down. Marv won't run a 5 yard out(unless it's a pick play), he'll curl at 8 and get the 1st.

Actually, he'll curl at 10 yards so he can come back to the pass. And everybody wonders why Peyton never throws picks.

There are two guys that would be able to answer this question better than any of us; If you posed the following question to both Tony Dungy and Mike Tice: Which WR would you want on your team going into this season? Harrison or Moss? I would imagine the answer would be 2-0 in favor of Marvin.

Assuming, of course, Tice's answer was never made public.
