Do you really need to have 2 D/K/TE? I figured that I could drop/trade the least productive wr or rb and pick up a bye week replacement in my case, I think the 'Boys are in week 9. Need to do the same with my TE (wk 5) and K (wk 6) but there are a lot of them on the WW for just the bye week. I wanted to try and accumulate a lot of RBs to see which ones will pan out and become a good backup to LT2 and JJones. I think by week 5 I would be able to tell. Is this a dumb move or what?

Once the season begins I usually have one backup (usually a TE) on my roster, and I make sure my TE, K, and DEF have different bye weeks, so I can use one roster spot to backup all 3, and potentially have a guy that will be worth some trade value.
I hardly ever draft a TE/PK/DT early enough so there's a "great" one on my roster. When one's bye-week pops up, I usually just release 'em and move on with another.
During the rare occurence I actually have someone worth mentioning at one of those positions, I'll usually just release one of my backup WRs.
I don't even carry a backup QB on my rosters.

I would never keep a backup K...ever. If you have a really good one, you run into problems, but otherwise you just dump whichever one you have during their bye week. By that time, you'll know which random teams are playing well and which K's are reaping the benefits.
I can see keeping 2 D's...but I would only do so for the purpose of hoarding whatever matchup D you're using the next week.
TE's...you probably can just dump whichever sleeper didn't pan out and get a backup for the bye.

Thanks for all the input. I don't feel as uneasy as I did now. And yes, it is a redraft league.

This is why I want to petition the league and ask that the earliest a bye can be is week five. It gives me enough time to find out who was the mistake in my draft that I cut for bye week fillers. Carrying more than one K, D, or TE is against the laws of nature..we..I mean football. A FF roster should reflect the starting line-up of an NFL roster.
