Cowboys running back Julius Jones dazzled viewers and fantasy fans with a strong second half in 2004, and he's aiming high in his sophomore campaign. "That's what I am shooting for, 1,700 [yards] and 20 [touchdowns]," Jones told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I set my goals high."

And by "high," Jones means a combination of stats that only four running backs in NFL history (Eric Dickerson, Emmitt Smith, Terrell Davis, Ahman Green) have ever achieved. While we appreciate the goals, fantasy owners should aim their projections a little bit lower. Julius has plenty of pop and potential, but we're not quite ready to place him alongside LaDainian Tomlinson.


Now, I'm not sayin he's gonna reach those numbers, but that sure doesn't sound like someone who is "askin" for 22 carries a game like some have suggested. Doesn't sound like to me that "Julie" is afraid of too many carries.

Well aslong as Julius Jones thinks he can do it I think he can. He has the potential to be special thins year he should defenitly go top 14 so now Im expecting big things from Julius.

Actually Morgan is a healthy 55 or so and I think Suzanne is almost 60.

Seriously, I think JJ is poised for a pretty huge year. I think almost everyone would agree that he should not be drafted based on some of the outrageous projections that are out there. But I also don't think most people expect him to be available very deep into the draft either.

Personally, I'm valuing him based on about 1200-1400 yards and 11-14 TD's. That puts him down in the #10-15 range of all RB's.

Ill just state this once since we have gone over it a number of times already...

Chances are good Julie will not get the 30ish carries a game that he did last yr. Parcells has already expressed his desire to limit the pounding he takes. They added Atrain in the offseason and drafted Barber for this purpose. Julie himself has said he expects to get 20-23 carries a game.

Atrain could very easily hawk goalline touches from Julie. Barber could very easily see the 3rd down opps.

I agree that Julie is in the 15ish range for RBs - just dont expect him to get 30+ carries like last yr.

All Im saying is temper your expectations.

I said I didn't expect him to get those kinda numbers. My point was that some had suggested that Parcell's and even Julius was saying that he would get around 22 caries this year. The above statement isn't reflective of someone who only wants 22 carries this year. That's all I'm saying.
