Price's value keeps dropping

Postby defianthart » Tue Jul 26, 2005 2:28 pm

Falcons head coach Jim Mora sent a message to veteran wide receiver Peerless Price by stripping him of his starting job when the team opened training camp on Monday. Second-year receiver Michael Jenkins served as the starter opposite Dez White, while Price was relegated to second-team duties with Brian Finneran. "We want to stir the pot a little bit, and it seemed the right time to do it," Mora told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Price finished last season with an abysmal 45 receptions for 575 yards and three touchdowns, while Jenkins finished his rookie season with seven receptions for 119 yards.

I don't think he has ANY value.

When your QB might throw a dozen TD passes all year and you are the 3rd or 4th option, things look bad.

Does that matter?

This is fantasy football, not Madden. If he doesn't produce, then he's worthless.

Must be a slow day... We have included 'Price' and 'value' in the same sentence.

That doesn't work in the consumer world, and it sure doesn't work in the FF world.

Price is getting rippped....he can't help it if he has a shitty QB throwing to him. If Mora wants to be fair then throw in Schaub because Vick's passing is abysmal.

I think they should have dealt Vick and collected a ton of picks. Then toss Shaub in there and use the picks to build around him.

Instead they opted to sign the RB under Center to a 10 yr deal.

Could be a tactic to light a fire under his ass.

Some afterthoughts a fan had at the Falcons training camp today.

Training Camp looked really impressive. One thing that surprised me is how much more agressive Price is being when it comes to catching the ball. I was positioned right behind the offensive drills right against the fence today and I got to see all of our talented running backs. TA McClendon (sp) looked like a beast out there being a very agressive runner. Dunn didn't have pads on today and didn't run drills. As a matter of fact, neither did Crumpler or Brooking.

The combo of Jenkins and Vick in the passing drills with a cornerback covering looked very impressive. Jenkins looks like he's coming into his own as a stand-out receiver. Finneran looked slow and Rombe Bryant had a bit of trouble catching today. Johnson also had a lot of trouble catching but Jenkins looked like the best route runner and best hands among the receiver. Dez looked average although he caught a few not so easy passes. Price looked like he was really trying to prove himself today as he jumped up hard for the ball and looked very clean and crisp in his route running

have you seen price play on the falcons? he has been absolutely horrendous. he pulls up short on routes, doesn't run full speed on many deep routes, drops too many passes, and doesn't fight for the ball. any qb would have shitty stats when his starting wr's have been price and finneran. if vick is so bad, how has crumpler put up some of the best numbers for tight ends over the last few years? (and it isn't through dump off passes, dump off passes don't average 16 yards per catch)

yeah, and the falcons were really stupid to sign a player who in his 2 years starting has led them to the first ever playoff win at lambeau and the nfc championship game. what a stupid move!!!
