Ummm...let's see....Ward plays for 7 years and three pro bowls and earns his contract, and never complains....Javon has a good year and becomes a b*tch. Who's in the right here?
First off, how does leading your team in receiving for 2 years out of the 3 you've been in the league qualify as 1 good year?
Secondly, Ward while underpaid is still being paid starting WR money. Walker isn't even being paid backup fullback money. That's just absurd.
I have always admired this guy for not being a "me first" kind of guy, but consistently going out there and getting the job done.
Ward, 29, does not necessarily want to be the highest-paid receiver in the game but wants to be among them, according to a source close to him. Ward will earn a salary of $1,668,750 this season -- the same as '04
Although, I hate the other "whiney" WRs that threaten holdouts, etc. I am on Wards side on this. I don't want him to miss any time, but he has been waiting for more money for a while, and the ownership wont listen to him otherwise.
The NFL needs more of these guys who are not in-your-face, cocky, me-first guys.
Fans need to get over it. It's not their business. It's a business decision.
Until a holdout drags on into the regular season, it shouldn't be looked at so horribly.
The only holdout that seems ridiculous to me is Terrell Owens. He should have at least waited one more year.
Walker, and especially Hines Ward, have every right to try to get a pay increase. If simply asking for one doesn't work, than you have to hold out. I'm all for it.

My thoughts exactly.
I hadn't heard about this yet, but unlike Owens/Walker... Ward should have a new deal. He has earned it and it their top offensive threat. He needs to be a top 10 paid WR.

I've been trying to avoid this becoming a Walker thread, but I thought I would put this up anyway.
Walker is scheduled to make a base salary of $515,000 next year.
Both Walker and Ward deserve more money, that is for sure. The difference seems to be, Ward just wants "around" the same amount of money top WRs get, while it seems Walker wants "the most" money top WRs make.
This guy is a giant hot dog...remember when he did the TO wing flap? It made no sense...he's a Steeler...not an Eagle. He just wanted to show off like usual.
