Rod Gardner is extremely underrated.

The thing about Rod is he can make some amazing catches. If he's competeing against a DB for the ball he'll win.
However, if he's wide open, he'll drop it for sure.
But Rod does have potential, he's a good red zone option and should compliment the running game with blocking. The panthers got him for virtually nothing.

Newly acquired wide receiver Rod Gardner will compete with second-year wideout Keary Colbert in training camp for the starting job opposite Steve Smith. "It's all about increasing the competition," Panthers' general manager Marty Hurney told the Rock Hill Herald after acquiring Gardner for an undisclosed draft pick on Wednesday. "Bringing Rod in creates competition, helps our depth, and hopefully it all works out." Gardner finished last season with 46 receptions for 741 yards and four touchdowns for the Redskins.

I dont think this has anything to do w/ health. Getting Gardner for basically a not so valuable pick is a good deal for CAR. At least this way they know for sure they will get him, whereas if he went to FA there would be multiple suitors.

That's interesting...usually don't see a trade this late.

Not to mention that the Skins starting 2 spots now belongs to the lollipop guild of Moss and Patten.

I agree that he is not as "bad" as he seems to be getting labeled...he will make an impact...
