I just saw Black Hawk Down for about the bazillionth time, there is so much action in it, it almost gets boring. However, it is one of the best depictions of the military at war that I have ever seen. The way it's filmed kind of grainy and the location are just mind blowing.
Quick ranking
1. Saving Private Ryan
2. Black Hawk down
3. Appocolypse Now ("do you smell that")
4. Boys in Company C
5. Glory
Honorable mentions: Platoon, 3 Kings
I know there's a bunch of cool war movies that I'm not mentioning that's why I thought this would be a cool discussion.

its not a movie but the mini series band of brothers on HBO was incredibly good, just got the box set, 14 hours of WW2 baby.
enemy at the gates is one of my favorite war movies because for some reason ive always liked the idea of being a sniper. off the top of my head though, id say saving private ryan is the best one ive seen.

Band of Brothers was amazing. I would have to say Black Hawk down would be on the top of my list, due to the event actually happening.
