My favourite is Black Hawk Down. I felt cloustraphobic watching that movie. I thought it really encaptulated what happened very well.
Yeah full metal jacket is a very good war movie and an excellent depiction of boot camp (been there done that) a few more I thought pretty good, Red badge of courage, the razors edge, midway.
And i saw red dawn mentioned very cool movie WOLVERINES!!!!!

I really liked Enemy at the Gates. Good action but also very revealing. Im thinking mainly of the scene where they get off the boat and only 1 in every 2 guys gets a gun.

yeah soldiers are complaining now about not having the right armor and stuff(as they should be) but just imagine only going into battle with only a clip
BlackHawk Down is almost the only movie I have ever seen where I also read the book and I didn't hate the movie... Stays pretty true to the storyline all along. Only ones that are as good for that are Hunt For Red October and Patriot Games which while different from the book are still close enough to be bearable - unlike the butchery of Clear and Present Danger or Sum of All Fears which both sucked...
We Were Soldiers was also good, as was The Patriot for Civil War...
I'm probably in the minority here but I really didn't find Apocalypse Now all that great - some decent scenes but too long and too heavy (if that's the right word for what I am trying to say)...
For WWII Saving Private Ryan and Enemy at the Gates were both awesome...
The newer movie with Bruce Willis was really good, as well! Tears of the sin I believe is what it's called. Now, I;ve haven't seen Hotel Rwanda yet, but I;ve herd it's really good. Anyone agree?

I rather enjoyed Tears of the Sun myself. It's one of Willis' better films of late. Never saw Rwanda, but I've heard it's tremendous. Another one I want to add to the list is Heartbreak Ridge. Not a "war" film, but a fun Eastwood romp from the 80's.
