Dr. Duran Duran's Top 40 RB's

Postby Dr. Duran Duran » Wed Aug 10, 2005 9:33 pm

This is a preliminary list I compiled for a re-draft league. Standard scoring. No points for receptions, a point per 20 yards rushing/recieving, fractional points awarded, 6 points per touchdowns. These rankings will change before the season starts, but I would like to hear people critique the list. Here we go...

1. LaDanian Tomilinson
2. Shaun Alexander
3. Priest Holmes
4. Edgerrin James
5. Jamal Lewis
6. Deuce McAllister
7. Rudi Johnson
8. Corey Dillon
9. Kevin Jones
10. Domanick Davis
11. Tiki Barber
12. Willis McGahee
13. Curtis Martin
14. Clinton Portis
15. Julius Jones
16. Ahman Green
17. LaMont Jordan
18. Steven Jackson
19. Tatum Bell
20. Cadillac Williams
21. J.J. Arrington
22. Brian Westbrook
23. Warrick Dunn
24. Cedric Benson
25. Ronnie Brown
26. Michael Bennett
27. DeShaun Foster
28. Chris Brown
29. Jerome Bettis
30. Lee Suggs
31. T.J. Duckett
32. Thomas Jones
33. Michael Pittman
34. Fred Taylor
35. Travis Henry
36. Mike Anderson
37. Eric Shelton
38. Marshall Faulk
39. Mewelde Moore
40. Duce Staley

What's the scoring system? Makes a huge difference.

Two things jump out at me: Jamal Lewis is higher than one normally sees, and McGahee is lower. Is WM down because of his injury concerns. What leads you to believe that JL is going to be the no. 5 back this season?

First off, Jamal is high because he is a former 2,000 yard back who, from all reports, looks incredible and has a real fire under him. He's playing in an offense that should allow for a little more breathing room with Mason and Clayton spreading it out a little bit, and Heap is also back. That should enable Lewis to get back to form. I have a hard time seeing him not approach 1,400 yards and 10+ touchdowns. Second, McGahee is a bit lower than some because of the uncertaintly of his offensive structure with Losman at QB. That and his injury risk drop him a few spots, IMO.

I think the following are too high:

Lewis
Rudi
Maybe K Jones

The following are too low
Westbrook (below two rookies?)
F Taylor (below TJ Tucket and Michael Pittman?)

Other than that a pretty solid list.

If there is a point per reception the list would really change.

im surprised barlow isnt on your list considering there are a number of guys at the end who arent even the starters or split time. he might suck...but he should still do better than guys who get maybe 10 carries per game.

other than that nothing jumps out at me as being that far off from my rankings or anything unrealistic...nice work DDD. ;-D

His list and my list have quite a few differences. What's your point?

I personally think that WM is too low, way too low. And everyone is high on K Jones this season, ive seen him at the 4th best rb goin into the season. Ill be really happy if i get him 2nd round.
