chad johnson vs. jerry porter?

Postby chthonicme2 » Mon Aug 25, 2003 9:24 am

my brother wants to give me chad johnson (WR- Cin) for jerry porter (oak)?

this seems like a great trade for me, because jerry porter seems to still be listed as a backup for jerry rice, while johnson appears to be the starter.

am i missing something???

you arent missing anything. A lot of people are on Porters jock right now and are overlooking people like Chad Johnson who is a lock to finish better than Porter.

I agree with cornbread. Johnson is the number one receiver in cincy, and Porter is number two in oak. Now people might get more hyped on Porter if Rice were to go down, but Tim Brown is not going to be as effective a number two to get rid of those double teams. So yes, get Johnson.

2 FG of one and a TD of the other. Porter is in a more reliable offense, while Johnson is the #1 in Cincy with less reliable O. Follow your heart and take who you like. Personally, I’d take Porter because he scores more Tds and may be on the upswing.

Chad Johnson played like a top 5 WR once Kitna became the starter. He is really the only threat in Cinci and the Bengals usually fall behind in the 1st half so they pretty much pass the 2nd half. Porter has to share passes with Rice and Brown so he really isn't the primary target of Gannon though he is the best of the three. I think Johnson will breakout this year in a big way.

Johnson

Postby andy23113 » Mon Aug 25, 2003 4:44 pm

I have Johnson in one of my leagues, and i was stoked to get him, I got him in the fifth round, which may seem early, but the receiver pool was quickly saturating. since then i found on nfl.com hes projected to be the 5th best receiver, only behind moss harrison owens and burress. definitely take johnson.

if you dont mind rooting for cincy. hah

I got ranked near Lavearneus Coles, Marty Booker territory.. i think he'll put up better stats thatn those two.
