QB Controversy

Postby bzabodyn » Wed Sep 25, 2002 5:58 pm

My starting QB is usually Jeff Garcia - it's his bye week (thank god) and my usual back up is Brad Johnson - I am currently attempting to trade him and McCardell for Kerry Collins - should I do it? If not, what about Rodney Peete? (he's available off waivers)

Thanks guys,
BZ

The Bengals, or the so-called "Bungles" if you insist, have held opposing QBs to under 200 yards and 2 TDS each. While that still makes for a decent fantasy outing, it's nothing to get excited about. Also, the change at QB is probably going to allow the offense more time on the field, meaning less playtime for opposing QBs and even worse numbers. Look for a slow, grinding ground game and don't expect big numbers from Johnson or the Tampa Bay receivers. This is going to be old-fashioned smash mouth football. Although I believe that the Tampa Bay Big D will prevail, this game will be too close to call ... an upset could be in the making.

Another possible (maybe even likely) upset this week is the Carolina vs. Green Bay game. Carolina is playing better D than people want to believe; the team isn't getting any respect because of the poor quality of its opponents. I see 2 INTs for Favre.

I have the Bengals as my back-up D in a league,I knew they were decent comin' in,they just don't win ballgames,QB problems,Dillon getting 10-15 carries a game, can't get Warrick the ball.it's a team sport & when an offense can't get anything going to spell the D,the D suffers.I am a huge Steeler fan since birth,so thanks to Myron Cope(Terrible Towel creator & Pitts. radio announcer),they will always be the "Bungles" to me.As will the "Cleve Brownies".Besides no matter how it's worded,it's still solid advice.

BTW-Carolina's D is second in the league in total defense, giving up only 220.3 yds a game. They are looking tough.
