Lions' fans, what does Schlesinger's injury mean to Kevin Jones? Was he a good lead blocking FB to begin with? DOes it hurt his stock any do you think?

I would think it could hurt him on the goalline because he is a very good blocking fullback, however I dont see it affecting KJ's overall numbers because from what I hear the team plans on using a lot of single back sets with 3 wr...

Yeah I've also heard they plan on using single back with two TE's. Hopefully it won't hurt KJ that bad.

Weird...I read somewhere that Mooch plans to utilize the 2 wr sets, which means M. Williams won't see a lot of playing time unless Rogers goes down.

Anyway, KJ was slightly overrated to begin with so it hurts his stock. Also, for the Detroit homers out there, I'm not in the mood to go into another longwinded argument about KJ.

The loss of Schlesinger for the first 4 games is going to slow the KJ express down in a few ways. He'll now have to try to elude more tacklers in the backfiled than before, and that is always death for rushing. He will also lose carries when they don't convert on third and short. They weren't real strong there anyway, and losing a very solid blocking FB like Sledge isn't going to help. He could even lose some goalline carries should the Lions decide they can't run it in and use thier talented reciever corps.

How much this will hurt KJ's numbers is dependant on how well they can fill in for Schlesinger. But I would expect a slower start than anticipated.

I agree to a point with you Mooch. I never expected huge td #s out of KJ anyways. Will Matthews has had a very strong camp and Millen has been raving about him. Im not a big Paul Smith fan, misses too many blocks and really is more of a special teamer to me but can fill in also. Bryson has also played fullback before and could be a nice addition at fullback. I think that Sledge will be back for week four, really only missing 2 regular season games as the Lions have a 3rd week bye. Sledge is a beast and will do all he can to get back by week four, the guy played with broken bones in his neck hes a gamer. I dont think that this hurts Jones all too much hes a talented back. If he falls in drafts good, ill take him.
