When Can I Expect the 1st IDP To Be Drafted?

I've searched, but can't seem to find ADP (avg. draft position) on IDPs (indivdual defensive players). I've been thinking about drafting Keith Bulluck as one of my IDPs, but am not really sure at what pick I can realistically expect to nab him at. Is mid 4th (7th round considering keepers) too early? Is the end of the 5th too late to expect him to be there?

Can anybody who has experience in an IDP league provide me with some insight as to when the first IDP, who I would expect to be either Bullck, Donnie Edwards, or Ray Lewis, will be off the board?

In the No-Names draft currently going on I took him at 8.4.....I was honestly a bit surprised he was still out there at that point. The defensive players really started going in the mid to late 7th rd. Reed, Lewis, Edwards, and Freeney I believe all went before Bulluck in this draft. Not sure if that's standard or not.

Actually we start 3 WR and a flex in there, so that may have delayed the IDP about a round in our league specifically. I might suggest if you are targetting him, think about him around the 6th rd.

If the other players in your league are inexperienced about IDPs, then IDPs will be drated really late. Most people don't even know who Keith Bulluck or Charles Grant are. These guys are some of the best IDPs out there. If you're set with your starters and have some depth, I'd say it's time to draft an IDP. Everyone else will pretty much follow you and draft an IDP. Your scoring is also important. See how many points the top IDP scored last year and compare it to other positions.

Usually the first defensive players go around the 6th. But that is usually 1 or 2 guys. IDP don't usually start runnin off the board till the 7th or 8th round. Ray Lewis is most likely the first to go. If you don't start alot of IDP's and are well prepared, you can usually wait till the 10th round and field as good players as most do. Bulluck will most likely be the 3rd LB off the board. Lewis and D Edwards being the first 2. If your league has return yards, grab Mcgee DB Buf early.

actually, the first in my league, drafted by me (though it is my first IDP league...) was Ed Reed. He has the INTs and the tackles... gotta love that. And he's a "take it to the house" threat.

Ray Ray, Bulluck, Thomas, etc. on the high tackle board are good bets too...
