I AM STARTING MY LEAGUE THURSDAY., I AM THE COMISSH., AND A QUESTION HAS COME UP...17 ROUND DRAFT....STARTING 1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DST.......
SHOULD EVERYONE DRAFT 2 KICKERS AND DEFENSES., OR CLAIM AND FREE AGENT FOR THEIR BYE WEEK., IF SO HOW DOES THAT WORK ., I DROP A GUY., AND ANYONE CAN PICK HIM UP..JUST TO FILL THE KICKER FOR A BYE WEEK...ETC...U UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION., SINCE I AM RUNNING IT., I HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE RULES., HELP ME DETERMINE., THANKS
It's all about strategy...I personally would only draft 1 kicker and possibly 2 D's,all depending on how the draft goes. There is no set ground rule unless you made one,let everyone decide for themselves.
...and yes,if you drop someone,he should be available for anyone else to snatch up.
i run the same format and have done it for 5 yrs. now.
8 starting spots, the remaining should be at random, giving the draft a strategy as to getting backups for players or bye weeks, if dropped then yes anyones gain. of course i only have 14 spots not 17 so i can see others prob. drafting 2 for each spot and still leaving alot of depth. we only have 6 bench spots so we use them wisely.
another rule we have is only allowing to draft 4 players/positions. meaning you can only take 4 RBs not 5. same for WR, not that you'll see 4 TE's...lol but you get the picture. it usually comes out that some teams dont have the full depth they want and works out for all in the league. any other ?'s....shoot....
thanks for responses., sorry bout the caps lock......so what if i say no one can draft more then 2 kickers and 2 special team/ defenses., that would leave 13 roster spots for the other posotions....maybe i should make it 18 rounds.......or what would u do?
IMO, you should let the owners draft whatever they want to. If
one wants to draft 17 WRs, to use an extreme example, let them
do whatever they want to do. I personally wouldn't worry about
limits per position.

I'm in a simialar league format - with NO restrictions on my draftees - I just HAVE to fill my minimum roster - 1QB. 2RB. 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DST...
I have to agree with the consensus. Allowing managers to draft however many players at a specific position allows them to employ whatever strategy they would like. It makes it fun to see who will draft which "sleepers" and how many. Truthfully drafting any more than one kicker and even one defense is a waste of time when you normally have decent bye-week fill-ins on waivers.
