Anyone watching the ESPN fantasy draft?

I just caught the end of this...terrible stuff. 8 team drafts are bad enough, but when you have this televised and several people don't know what they are doing, it's maddening.

aww is definitely right about the backlash. People are going to use that as their guide, and they will be horribly, horribly wrong.

Instead of using people that are "stars," they need to use "fantasy football stars" - meaning experienced players that know what they are doing. Then maybe stuff like this could be taken as a learning experience. This is just a big show to bring in guys like Nick Lachey for the girls and expose their program for more ratings. Sadly judging by 7 pages of posts on the subject, it worked. :-B

Bakay and Schwab's team OWNS. :-D

Man, the cafe should do like a live podcast and do like a 15 round 12 teamer. That'd be sweet. We'd be so much better than these clowns too.

Kolber sucked so bad that it hurt me to watch. She just kept annihilating herself worse with each pick and was happier by the round.

I venture that I would go undefeated if they had let me have a shot in that league. Bakay, Schwab, and Lachey are the best of a bad lot. Basically by default since there are only so many bad picks to go around :-b

Favre in the 2nd? Vick in the 3rd? Portis and DD in the 3rd?

Please let me play with these morons!

Saw the entire thing and was not suprised at all. Some of it was kinda funny, but Suzy Kolber's picks hurt me to watch.

Tom Jackson had no idea what the hell he was talking about. He yelled at the person who took priest holmes and than when Suzy picked a D in round 3 all he said was, you should have picked BUF. Not you can draft a good D later.

Some of the picks were just plain dumb. How Does Duece make it to the end of the second round and also did Todd Heap get drafted? 2 guys took LJ smith and JEB Putzier :-t

I watched a few minutes of Michael Irvin and his feeble attempts to defend his horrible picks. This guy is around a lot of football, and I'm sure watches several games a week. How can he be that bad at fantasy?

I don't think anyone's expecting him to repeat...but his numbers will be close regardless. Look at all his targets for christ sakes! Anyone who doesn't expect him to have the highest numbers again this year is just a boob.

Of course, I defend Manning and his color-blind ways until I die. ;-D

And that my friends, is your quote of the month. She basically kept pulling the trigger and failed to notice the gun was in her mouth.

ESPN entertainment value still provides a few laughs

Postby Confucian Scholars » Thu Aug 25, 2005 8:47 pm

Don't take ESPN's draft show so seriously. It was all in good fun. Schlereth's imitation of Jaws trash talking was hilarious.

You all think Kolber was stupid for picking Favre in the second round, but how soon you forget that on the obscure FOXSports fantasy NFL preview last season Warren Moon took Brett in the first round (and those guys were being very serious!)

Too bad none of the grateful guys lucky enough to pick after Suzy Kolber told her that they wanted to kiss her.

I thought the 2 funniest moments were Jaws unplugged and Bakay offering Ricky Williams in the first round to Ditka for all of his picks.
