gut feelings? i drafted him 5th, and after reading some more about him, seems like people have him ranked a lot lower than i did.

why does gil brandt (nfl.com) rank him 28th? mcnair's a pimp, and he has alternate targets in bennett and calico and mccareins...seems like mason is not exactly on his own out there.

whuddup?

He is your 5th Draft Pick!?

He is with Mcnair and he does have excellent abilities but there are just other WR that are used more by QBs are primary targets - Harrison, Moss, Owens - these players are the stars on their teams.

harrison, moss and owens were long gone by the time i had my 5th pick (54th overall). i took heap in the 4th round, and well...i needed a second receiver. but that's not really my point.

i would never suggest that mason is on par with the big 3. but not a part of the top 20? hrmph. i guess we'll see, but i think he's ranked way too low--and not just because i took him 54th overall.

Mason is a top 20 WR. He is McNair's fav. target. He'll probably end up with 7-9 td's and 1000-1200 yds.

Not bad as a #2 WR and a pretty good #3 WR.

Relax,Mason is McNairs go to guy, and Steve is gonna have a
huge year passing. Bennett and McCarrins will only help Mason
by making it more difficult to double him. Brandt also has McNair
ranked 17th at QB that should tell you all you need to know about
his rankings.

yeah, Ive seen an incredible lack of love shown to the Tenn players all around. The absurd rankings are even funnier when a lot of prognosticators have Tenn as favorites to go to the show.
McNair could is much more likely to be a top 10 QB than 17th, and Mason is much more likely to be a top 15 WR than not.

I think the 5th/6th round is perfect for Mason, I drafted him in the 5th myself. Looking back at my draft the only receiver I would have picked in front of Mason is Bruce. I thought I could grab in the following round but he went 3 picks to soon.

Plus I have McNair ranked 6th overall. His potential this year unbelievable.

Mason is a good 3rd reciver... Period... Every1 who thinks hell be a good 2nd is wrong. i had him in a 10 team league with joe horn and isaac bruce last year and he only had a few great games.... he was only decent in every other game... if u can get toomer, rod smith, chad johnson, price, booker, driver or coles, id take all those as my #2 reciever in front of mason (all but price is a #2 in my league)... mason is a good 5th rounder only if u took 2 recievers ahead of him, if hes ur 2nd good luck but he wasnt a good 2 for me, I thought bruce was better (did i mention mason gets injured a lot too)

To confirm the majority of the posts, Mason went in the fifth round in my draft. Good job I thought. But, the guy who got him plans on using him as his No. 1 receiver. Bad job I thought.

Oh don't forget the guy only seperated his shoulder last season. Yeah...he was hurt dude. He missed 2 games and was STILL able to make 1k in yards and 5 TDs. Factor in the avg and he would have been 9th in the AFC in yardage and 16th overall.

The only knock I would have had last year on him is he only scored 5 times (factor in an additional 1 for missed games) totalling 6. However, he did score 9 times in 2001...so expect 8 this season.

I'd be happy with him as my number 2WR.
