A day with kashikis...

My local money league drafted this weekend and we had a team opening. I talked with some guys from here who were from PA and was fortunate enough to have kashikis -- the mighty moderator -- come on board.

It was great to spend a day with one of the cafe moderators. Just talking football with someone who knows as much as kash was refreshing, but it is awesome too to watch him draft and develop a team. He got to meet my wife, our baby and the 15-year old that we're in the process of adopting (and who is also in the league).

I think that many posters here lose sight of how much time and effort the mods put into the site. They're people like us, with jobs, families and tons of other responsibilities -- yet, they volunteer countless hours here for nothing but an occasional "e-pat on the back".

Overall, it was a great experience. I wanted to thank kashikis and to wish him luck in the league. He'll need it!

Yeah, it's neat to see and talk to people from here in person. Due to my cruddy work schedule, distance to travel, and other leagues I couldn't make it even though I am "relatively" close.

I'm sure it was a fun time for you both.

Well, if you really wanted to play along, the Crash Test Dummies team is currently ownerless! The guy we had for it jumped out right before the draft, so it was autodrafted by an owner from our sister league and we're looking for someone who'd want to take it on!

Kash...did you probe the user for data collection ? Remember, we're in stage two now. That means all 3rd tier orifices and #4 grid fluid samples.

I had a blast with this draft. Like Warpigs said I got to meet his whole family including his dogs. It only took about 90 minutes to get there and I got to meet a bunch of new people that were all really cool to me. I mean a live draft, beer and a BBQ, going was a no brainer.

This was actually my first brand new person I've met in person from the Cafe and it is really cool to put a face to the name. Thanks for the kudos on keeping the Cafe together, but that honor should be shared with all of the vets around here.

A side note is the trophy in this league is by far the nicest I've seen for a league I've been involved in and will look great on my mantle. As for needing help in this league though, just watch your back. The new guy is coming for the title
