Panthers | Running Back Pecking Order Set - If Davis is Healthy
Thu, 1 Sep 2005 21:47:02 -0700
Scott Fowler, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers running back depth chart is pretty much set as long as RB Stephen Davis is healthy and feels no after effects from his first game action of the year Thursday, Sept. 1. As noted earlier, Davis will be the No. 1 back. RB DeShaun Foster will be the speedy, change-of-pace No.2 running back and RB Nick Goings the jack-of-all-trades No.3 running back. Barring an injury, rookie RB Eric Shelton will have the year he needs to learn, which is good because he has had a thoroughly unproductive preseason. The Panthers won't need much from Shelton in 2005, if Davis is indeed healthy. As long as the knee doesn't swell, Davis will start for Carolina in the season opener against New Orleans Sept.11.
