Donate your league's money

Postby knapplc » Fri Sep 02, 2005 11:57 am

I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this - I have no idea which would be correct. If the mods know, feel free to move it.

Here's my suggestion - There is NO WAY the members of your league need the money they'll earn this year more than the people in Louisiana, Missippi and Alabama whose lives have been uprooted due to Hurricane Katrina. If we all proposed to our leagues that we donate the money we put into the pot to the Red Cross disaster relief fund we could make a dent in the amount they need to help these people.

If your whole league won't agree, donate what YOU earn this season. I'm giving every dime I make (and I've got a playoff-caliber team).

Make your donations to:

i like the idea a lot but i would be worried about the commish keepin the money for himself. Hate that i have to be concerned about that sort of thing but thats just the way it is now.

If that's a real concern then you're probably in the wrong league. ;-)

You could always just donate what YOU earn. That way you'd know it was done right.

Great idea man. ;-D
I will just bring up the idea in my league and donate whatever I will earn. Nobody should be forced to do so, but I'm pretty sure everyone in my league will follow.

Again; great idea, knapplc ;-D ;-D

Thanks! I made this proposal in both football and baseball money leagues. So far the response has been great.

Tell everyone you know in every league you know on every forum you know that this is something they can do to help.

I suggested this, and suggested something like Amazon gift certs for 1st and second place or something like that, when faced with the concern that people might not actually "compete" or care if there's nothing at stake. Then again, one guy said that as long as he's referred to as the undisputed champion for the next year, he's cool with it. :)
