so i try to open up mozilla and it tells me i need to load a profile, which i had never seen before in my year or two of using this program. well i click on default and it tells me its all ready in use and i have to create another one. so i do and now ive lost all my bookmarks(including links to my money leagues page which i have no other way of getting) and preferences.

i cant find any mention of profiles in firefoxs help section and i really need my bookmarks back, can anyone help me?

Restart your computer.. I had this problem earlier today, and that fixed it.

That's happened to me also...I'm trying to remember if there is a way to fix it w/o a restart. I can't off hand.

Is there another instance of Firefox running that you're unaware of? Close Firefox and check your processes in Windows Task Manager (hit control-alt-delete if you run XP and go to "Processes"). If there's a firefox.exe running, try to end the process.

yeah restart computer works, also if you CTRL-ALT-DELETE then go to applications, find firefox, then do end task on it, it should fix it

well the restarting of my computer didnt work, i did find my commishs phone number though so i got that stuff. it would still be nice to have my other bookmarks back

EDIT: actually i found how to access the profile manager online, and it worked this time. i guess the restart did work, thanks manja and mercer

I think Mercer nailed it. I use Nutscrape and this is what happens when you have dupes running.
