Plummer makes me think twice about Portis

Postby T-BONE » Fri Aug 29, 2003 2:11 pm

Well, Plummer got booed on Monday night. The pressure is already on his shoulders.

If he really sucks, how do you guys think this could downgrade Portis fantasy value??

I have the 2nd pick in the draft and was convinced to grab Portis. Now I'm having second thoughts...

Just ask yourself, "Did Griese suck last year?"

How did Portis do last year with Griese ?

If "Yes" and "Very Good" are your answers then Plummer should not deter you from taking Porits... In my humble opinion...

If anything, it should make Portis' value increase.

I agree Plummer could have some growing pains in Denver's new offense, and I also feel he is being way overrated on most fantasy sites. However, he is good enough to keep defenses honest. Lelie, Smith, and McCaffrey are very good targets that will warrant some attention. Portis will have plenty of room to roam, and with the numbers he put up in less than a full season last year.... if he's there take him.
"Sometime during the Pats game last week, I decided that Tomlinson was the best overall running back of my lifetime. There's nothing he can't do: deadly receiver, tough inside runner, explosive to the outside, you name it." - ESPN's Bill Simmons

I love Portis. If (when) Plummer sucks, he'll get more carries. When (if) Plummer is good, defences will have to respect the pass and be softer against the run.

Either way, you can't lose. The O Line is solid and he will get his carries and points.

LMAO.
This is probably the most succinct, in-a-nutshell comment I've seen here this entire offseason!
Great job, Plato.
You get the big Weasel ;-D

Let's not forget that two mediocre, at best, backs tore it up behind that offensive line. And Portis is FAR from mediocre. He will be fine.

Yeah, if Plummer can't pass, then how many times are they gonna give it to Portis?

i dont think D's are going to be stacking 8 in the box against denver, simply b/c lelie is too much of a big-play threat and the consistent (and underrated fantasy man) rod smith can still get it done.
