A tale of a virus

I listed in the classified section about a league I was trying to fill out a couple weeks ago and got a response via AIM about a few of this guys friends and he wanting to join. He seemed to drag out the conversation a bit, but I played along, wanting to get everything together. Well, he abruptly said "bye!" and next thing I knew my computer starts acting funny and ultimately locks up.



I'm at work mind you. My computer is the master station for the cash registers and master inventory files.

I know, stupid me. I believed the anti-virus I had on here was 'good enough'. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

I had to bring the cpu to my local computer people who we use for any upgrades or whatnot. I had them put a very good anti-virus program on here and clean it up.

I now get a request at least twice a day for an AIM message to go through, and they try to get me all virus'd up.

If there was an icon here for someone kicking themselves, I'd post it here.

Lesson learned.

I'd switch your AIM settings to block all non buddy list users for a bit.

Thanks for the advise folks. I got my system chock full of goodies now from my computer place with a backup created every other day. Remember the scene in Forrest Gump with Cap't Dan screaming from the top of mast on the boat "COME ON! IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? I DARE YOU!" Thats me now
