Olandis Gary to the Lions?

Postby nsulham » Sat Aug 30, 2003 10:42 am

From Rotoworld:

The Buffalo News is reporting that Olandis Gary, coming off an impressive, is the subject of trade talks with the Detroit Lions.
Trading Gary would make it easier for the productive Joe Burns to make the team, but is a risky proposition for the Bills. With Stewart's injury to his shoulder, Gary could become a good back in teh first six weeks of the season.

Something I would think to to keep an eye on as Gary is better than anyone Detroit has now with Stewart shelved. Any Lions guys have any extra on this?

I just picked up Gary a few days ago for insurance on Henry's foot...that would be sweet to luck into another partial starter!

I know that Joe Burns has looked good this pre-season, but it is just that "pre-season". With henry hurting, I can not see Buffalo trading away Olandis Gary, at this point. Just my opinion...as I am in your boat with wondering what to do.

Gary? Bettis? How about Hearst!

Postby Goose » Sat Aug 30, 2003 4:23 pm

I would be surprised if Buffalo traded Gary, but stranger things have happened. If the Lions are desperate enough, they may pry Gary away (if that's the direction they want to go). However, I could see Mooch wanting to trade for his old buddy Garrison Hearst before Gary, Bettis, et al. Hearst has a big contract and will not be re-signed by SF for next year as they are in an ownership-driven cost crunch. If Detroit ponnies up something attractive enough, look for Hearst to be moved.

it would be a very risky move for the bills to move gary with henry hurting, but from a fantasy perspective olandis might be a good guy to stash away on the bench if he does get traded to a team where he can start, or if henry's heel worsens.
