Sproles or Turner?

Postby WHO DEY » Tue Sep 06, 2005 1:19 pm

Who is the SD backup RB?

I keep seeing Sproles talked about on here but every depth chart I've found lists Turner as the backup.

I'm seeing, hearing, and thinking Sproles. This kid has looked nothing short of amazing in SD this preseason. If he weren't behind someone named LT, then I think we would have a nice RB battle on our hands.

But all Sproles will do for now is give LT some breathers here and there. I would pick up Sproles though as insurance because he appears to be able to produce on the same level as LT if given the chance.

Turner the Burner.

He's more of a natural RB than Sproles, the Dave Meggett clone.

I say Turner too. Sproles will get the looks to spell LT during normal games, but if LT goes down Turner will become LT, and Sproles will keep doing the cameo thing.

except turner won't become LT he'll become Lamar Gordon or something equally bad. They won't be able to run w/o LT.

Chatman sure made it look pretty easy last year when he was spelling LT for extended lengths. I know that LT played the first half in those games and softened the Def up, but I think you are slightly understimating the Chargers run-game these days (now that they have something remotely resembling a passing game). Dont take this as a statement that Turner will be like LJ coming into the Chiefs, but I think Lamar Gordon might be a bit harsh.
